Notes from the road as Brad Smith Covers his 5th WWC and embeds with the USWNT
"So excited to have the opportunity to cover the 2015 Women’s World Cup. This is my fifth Women’s World Cup and we are seeing very large crowds in Canada cheering on these teams. The athletics of the players is inspiring, and the energy of the fans is spurring on this high-level play.
While the travel and logistics of covering the World Cup can be complicated, I am rewarded by seeing the best of each country compete as well as experiencing the world coming together to celebrate women’s soccer. Each host nation brings its own spirit to the tournament, and I enjoy meeting other journalists, fans, and players from around the world.
Over these five World Cup tournaments, I have witnessed many amazing games that are testament to the dedication and talent of these players. From the United States to China to Germany to Canada every moment is special and indelibly etched in my mind. We have seen some strong competition here in Canada, and I am looking forward to the finals as the 2015 World Cup continues." -Brad Smith
